Scotland Women to play Wales in Durham, Blades commence camp

Scotland Women will play a three-match series against Wales this weekend at the Graham Sports Centre, Maiden Castle, in Durham.

The games will be played at 4 pm on Sunday 29 May; 4 pm on Monday 30 May; and 12pm on Tuesday 31 May (local time.

Scotland will head into the three-match series in great form having beaten Wales twice in a test series already this year with two 2-0 wins; on the back of winning two of the three matches in a series against Ireland in Belfast.

The matches come as part of Scotland’s preparations for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and the EuroHockey Championships qualifier in Dunkirk.
The Scots will head to Dunkirk for a EuroHockey Championships qualifier straight after the Commonwealth Games, where they will compete for a place at the top table of European hockey. Scotland will take on France; Switzerland and Austria on 24-27 August.

The Kenya National Ladies Hockey team (Blades), who will take on South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Scotland in Pool B of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, kicked off their residential camp at the Moi International Sports Centre earlier this week.

Kenya will kick off their Birmingham campaign against defending champions New Zealand on 29th July before facing the 2014 winners Australia, then face off against Scotland. Their last pool match will be against South Africa on 2nd August.

The team will be training at the Dashmesh Stadium at Sikh Union in Nairobi under head coach Jacqueline Mwangi. They had already started their preparations at the stadium before heading to the residential camp.

Kenya Hockey Union named a list of 30 players that began residential camp on Monday ahead of the Commonwealth Games. 12 more players will be dropped before the team travels to Birmingham for the July 28-August 8 Games.
